Pacific won a three-team wrestling meet Thursday at Priory.
The Indians registered victories over Priory 42-27 and Windsor, 52-21.
“We wrestled pretty well. We’re coming along,” said Pacific Head Coach Rob Schimsa. “Our kids who should have won, did win. We also had kids who were winning their matches, but ended up losing. It was a good night.”
Pacific wrestles Friday and Saturday at the MICDS Tournament.
“It’s one of those tournaments that has a wide variety of ability levels,” Schimsa said. “There will be a lot of good wrestlers. Even the top guys in the tournament should get some good matches.”
Priory
Pacific dominated the lower- to middle-weight classes in the win over Priory. Winning contested matches for the Indians were:
• Zain Mathena (113) pinned Anthony Leisure in 3:50;
• Joe Rind (120) pinned Stephen Hattrich in 1:20;
• Matthew Schimsa (126) won by decision over Andrew Abad, 7-6;
• Lane Smith (132) won by decision over Colburn Wagner, 6-5;
• Joon Kim (145) won by decision over Patrick Rolwes, 8-3;
• Dalton Voyles (152) won by decision over Alex Haueisen, 17-11; and
• Austin Repp (170) pinned Kevin Schilling in 39 seconds.
Josh Franek (106) and Jeff Miller (138) both won by forfeit.
Curtis Paglusch (160) lost by decision, 6-3. Jarrett Harrison (195) and Tim Toney (285) were pinned.
The Indians were open at 182 and 220.
Windsor
Pacific had similar success against Windsor.
Winning contested matches for the Indians were:
• Rind (120) pinned John Green in 32 seconds;
• Smith (132) won by major decision over Kyle Cage, 11-3;
• Miller (138) pinned Jacob Mueller in 59 seconds;
• Voyles (152) pinned Austin Marler in 1:10;
• Paglusch (160) won by injury default over Brandon Yarnell in 29 seconds; and
• Repp (170) pinned Jacob Scott in 1:23.
Franek (106), Mathena (113) and Schimsa (126) each won by forfeit.
Kim (145) lost by decision, 7-3. Andrew Cooper (182) and Harrison (195) were pinned.
The Indians were open at 285. Both teams were open at 220.
