Kelsey Inman belted home runs in her first two at-bats, which set the tone for Pacific in a 10-5 softball win over Warrenton in the third-place game of the Union Tournament.

The earlier part of the tournament was played Aug. 25, but rain forced the championship and third-place games to be postponed.

Washington defeated Union in the championship game, 5-1.

Pacific and Warrenton combined for 27 hits, 15 by the Lady Indians.

Inman reach base three times with two home runs, a walk, three RBIs and two runs.

“It was an exciting game. The girls really came to play. We hit the ball with authority,” said Pacific Head Coach Traci Dewert. “Kelsey came through with two huge bombs to left field. It’s so good having her bat get hot when we are heading into district play.”

Meagan Wakefield was 3-3 at the plate with a double, one RBI and one run.

Madison LeClaire collected two hits (one double), two RBIs and two runs.

Marissa Tate added two hits (one double), two RBIs and one run.

Lizzy Almo finished with two hits (one double), one walk and two runs.

Mary McDaniel added two hits and one run.

Amber Zurliene and Adrienne Penn both finished with one hit. Zurliene added one RBI.

“The entire lineup hit the ball,” Dewert said. “That’s what we’ve been striving for all season. It just happens to go in spurts for us.”

Tate pitched all seven innings for the win. She allowed five runs on 12 hits with five walks.

“Marissa pitched a great game. She’s only a freshman, but she holds her composure on the mound like an upper classman,” Dewert said. “Our senior leadership has really helped her this year. Our defense made some great plays.”

Danielle Morrow and Melanie Raterman both had three hits for Warrenton, coached by Trevor Hibbs.

Rachel Earlewine pitched the first four innings to suffer the loss. Taylor Nordwald worked the final three frames.

Pacific-Holt

Pacific (9-11) ended its regular season Monday with a 12-3 home loss to Holt.

Tate pitched all seven innings for Pacific.

Inman continued her hot hitting by going 3-3 at the plate with a walk, one double and one RBI.

Almo finished with two hits and three runs. Wakefield also had two hits.

LeClaire and Zurliene both had one hit. LeClaire added one RBI.

Pacific visits Parkway South in the opening round of the Class 4 District 3 Tournament Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
