Lady Knights Defeat Hickman By Bill Battle Missourian Sports Editor The Missourian

Coming back from a brutal pool in the St. Dominic-Howell North Shootout last week, the Borgia soccer Lady Knights put their lessons to use Monday in a 3-1 win over Hickman.

“They are a good team with speed and size,” said Borgia Head Coach Jeff Hill. “Their goalie is very good. She made several saves from close range and kept them in the game. Our midfield played outstanding, winning the ball and keeping possession throughout the game. Jodi Hellebusch anchored our defense while Mackenzie Haddox was solid in goal.”

Borgia received goals from sophomore Emily Grahl, freshman Allie Wilson and senior Jessica Diermann in the game. Grahl also had an assist.

Wilson scored the game-winning goal with Grahl assisting. Diermann set up the play with a direct kick from outside the box.

Haddox made five saves in goal to earn the victory.
