After dropping its first game of the Ninth District Tournament, the Washington Post 218 Freshmen bounced back with five straight wins in four days to win the tournament championship in Elsberry.

Top-seeded Washington cruised to a 14-0 victory in five innings over fifth-seeded Wentzville Sunday in the deciding game.

Post 218 forced a second and deciding championship game by winning Saturday over Wentzville, 9-4. Washington opened Saturday’s action with a 3-0 victory over second-seeded Elsberry.

Will Davis tossed the five-inning shutout Sunday for Post 218 over Wentzville.

Post 218 already was guaranteed a spot in the state tournament in Branson by claiming the Ninth District regular season crown.

Elsberry also heads to state by finishing second in the regular season district standings.

Washington opens the state tournament in Branson Wednesday against Branson at 6:30 p.m.

The Washington Post 218 Juniors won the Ninth District Tournament title Saturday over Pacific Post 320, 4-0.

Both teams will play in the Zone 1 Tournament at Ronsick Field in Washington.

Pacific takes on Jefferson City Thursday at 8 p.m. Washington opens Friday at 5 p.m.

The Washington Post 218 Seniors reached the championship game of the Blue Springs Wood Bat Tournament, falling Sunday to Jefferson City, 4-2.

Post 218 knocked off West Sunday in the semifinals, 4-1.
