Pacific secured third-place honors at the Randi Perkins Girls Basketball Tournament at Marquette High School.
The fourth-seeded Lady Indians (3-1) held the lead throughout the game in a 59-48 victory Friday over seventh-seeded Duchesne.
Third-seeded Nerinx Hall won the tournament title by defeating top-seeded Marquette, 59-55.
Pacific lost to Marquette in the semifinals, 81-71, after defeating fifth-seeded Webster Groves in the opening round, 63-58.
“We were able to watch Duchesne play against Nerinx Hall in the semifinals,” said Pacific Head Coach Josh Spuhl. “We knew they would be very scrappy and work really hard. We came out and played well enough to stay on top. We were able to hold a 10-point lead for most of the second half.”
The Lady Indians held leads of 13-11 after one quarter, 27-24 at halftime and 42-34 after three quarters.
Kya Hill led all scorers in the game, finishing with 20 points for Pacific.
“Kya had a great game,” Spuhl said. “The girls saw the mismatch and we took advantage of it.”
Lizzy Almo added 12 points.
Almo was named to the first-team all-tournament team. Hill was named to the second team.
Ellen Rogers finished the contest with eight points.
Ashley Hill pitched in with six points.
Abby Spuhl and Hunter Kelemen both scored five points.
Meagan Wakefield scored two points. Brigid Toney had one point. Kate Cookson also played.
“Lizzy and Ashley had solid games,” Spuhl said. “Ellen Rogers has really come on strong. She is showing that she can do a lot more than just be a good defender.”
Duchesne (1-3) was led by Janelle Eisenbath, who scored 14 points. Morgan Plackemeier added 10 points.
Pacific was 7-13 from the free-throw line. Duchesne was 4-11.
