Moving from T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon to Ronsick Field in Washington, the Ninth District Freshman and Junior Legion All-Star Games are scheduled for Saturday.

The Freshman contest will take place Saturday at Ronsick Field in Washington at 1 p.m. The Junior game will follow at 4 p.m. There will not be a Senior game.

In the Freshman game, players from the South Division will take on players from the North.

The South consists of Washington, Pacific and Wentzville. The North features St. Charles, St. Peters and Elsberry.

Washington Post 218

Nine players from Washington Post 218 are on the team.

Representing Post 218 in the starting lineup will be Garrett Leimkuehler, Blake Pickard, Trey Hunter and Gus Kleekamp.

Leimkuehler will be the starting catcher.

Pickard gets the start at third base.

Kleekamp will start at shortstop.

Hunter will be a starter in the outfield.

Washington’s second-team selections were first baseman Joseph Grant, second baseman Daniel Diener, outfielder Will Davis and designated hitter Nik Alferman.

Pitchers for Post 218 on the team are Kleekamp and Kody Halmich.

Pacific Post 320

Five members of Pacific Post 320 were selected to play.

Austin Muich of Post 320 will be a pitcher for the South Division team.

“Austin has a good shot at being the starting pitcher for the South Division,” said Pacific Manager Nathan Bruns. “In my opinion, he’s the most dominant pitcher in the district. He’s the most talented and the most developed pitcher I saw in the district this year. We expected to win every time he stepped on the mound.”

Tristan Longsdon will be a starting outfielder.

“Tristan started the season red-hot at the plate. He was hitting close to .500 at one time and finished the season at around .350,” Bruns said. “He was our No. 4 hitter in the lineup and a very good run-producer.”

Reid Dauster was named a second-team first baseman.

“Reid was one of the best defensive first basemen in the district,” Bruns said. “At the plate, he had a batting average of around .300.”

Alex Westermann is a second-team shortstop.

“I’m glad Alex played with us this summer. He was a good guy to have on the team,” Bruns said. “He played everywhere in the field. He played all three outfield spots along with second base, third base and shortstop. He was one of the league leaders in steals and always gave a 100 percent effort.”

Sam Fuchs was named a reserve at pitcher and catcher.

“From the beginning of the season, Sam wanted to be a team leader and carried it out,” Bruns said. “He did a nice job defensively behind the plate. He also helped us on the mound and at the plate. He’s a hard worker.”

Wentzville

Starting from Wentzville are second baseman Tyler Robinson, outfielder Garry Alcorn and designated hitter Collen Mason.

Second-team players are third baseman Nick Garafalo and outfielders Derek Speltz and Trent Felton.

Pitchers are Jacob Roesch, Andrew Siemer and Speltz.
