For fans wearing black and gold, the lengthy weather delay was worth the wait.

The Sullivan Eagles came out and dominated Union Friday night at Stierberger Stadium, 42-0.

Sullivan (3-0) came out after stormy weather delayed kickoff by over two hours. Sullivan marched right down the field on the opening drive, getting a nine-yard touchdown run by Justin Biermann with 9:33 to go in the first quarter. Jake Lochner’s kick made it 7-0.

After forcing Union to punt, Biermann broke loose on a 45-yard counter play for another touchdown with 6:10 to go in the first quarter. Lochner’s kick was blocked and Sullivan led 13-0.

The Eagles continued the scoring early in the second quarter. Caden Weigl scored on a 12-yard run after the Eagles recovered a Union fumble deep in Wildcat territory. That score came with 9:52 to go in the half. Quarterback Adam Tiefenbrunn then hit Biermann with the two-point conversion pass to make it 21-0.

Biermann capitalized on the counter play again for a 67-yard touchdown run with 6:49 to play in the half. Lochner’s kick made it 28-0.

After Dalton Turner intercepted a Blake Hulsey pass, Tiefenbrunn hit Adam Weiland on the next play for a seven-yard touchdown with 2:57 to play in the half. Lochner’s kick made it 35-0 at the intermission.

Sullivan was able to move the ball at will, mainly on its favored counter play. Union made a spirited run for a score late in the half, but stalled out in Sullivan territory.

With the running clock, things ran quickly in the second half. There was no scoring in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Biermann intercepted a pass and returned it to the Union 19. A short time later, he ran in for a 20-yard touchdown. Lochner’s kick with 9:15 remaining in the game closed out the scoring, 42-0.

Sullivan hosts St. Clair (3-0) next Friday while Union visits Pacific (0-3). Both Four Rivers Conference games kick off at 7 p.m.
