It was a slow start, but a fast finish for St. Clair last Saturday at its own volleyball tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs (8-13-2) registered a 2-2-1 tournament record to capture consolation honors.
“We started out a little slow, but picked up the pace later in the day,” said St. Clair Head Coach Ashley Mims. “The girls worked hard and improved in a lot of areas.”
St. Clair went 1-5 (game record) and 0-2-1 (match record) in its pool, advancing to the consolation bracket.
Warrenton and Pacific advanced to the championship bracket from the pool, joining Union and Sullivan from the other pool.
Sullivan won the tournament title, defeating Warrenton in the championship match.
St. Clair went 2-0 in its two matches in the consolation bracket, defeating Orchard Farm for the consolation plaque.
“We had a completely different lineup. The team learned how to play by new people in one day and I was extremely proud of them,” Mims said. “We won the consolation bracket and ended the day with two wins in a row.”
St. Clair opened its pool with a split against Viburnum, 22-25, 25-19.
Macy Levvintre and Sam Deason both finished the match with five kills. Levvintre added four service aces. Deason also had four digs.
Abby Ruck smashed three kills. Katelyn Guehne had two aces.
Allison Hinson collected four digs. Hannah Krouper had two digs.
Miranda Murphy finished with seven assists. Kelsey Wachter had two assists.
St. Clair then suffered a loss to Pacific, 25-21, 26-24.
Deason led the way with five kills and five blocks.
Levvintre, Hinson, Guehne and Ruck each added three kills.
Hinson and Krouper both had three digs. Guehne and Levvintre both had five points.
Murphy collected 13 assists. Wachter had four assists.
The Lady Bulldogs ended their pool with a loss to Warrenton, 25-12, 25-17.
Deason registered three kills, three points, two digs and one block.
Hinson finished with two kills and one block.
Guehne had three points and one block.
Emily Presley and Halley Cokley both had two digs.
Wachter added three assists and Murphy had two.
St. Clair opened the consolation bracket by defeating St. James, 25-14, 25-22.
Levvintre, Guehne and Murphy each served four aces. Guehne added three kills and two blocks.
Deason and Cokley both finished with four kills.
Hinson registered three kills and two digs.
Presley, Krouper and Ruck each had two digs. Ruck added three assists.
Murphy finished with five assists. Wachter had three assists.

Hinson finished the match with eight kills and five digs.
Ruck collected six kills and three digs.
Deason added five kills, three digs and 11 points.
Guehne contributed with five kills, two blocks and five points.
Krouper collected four digs. Wachter had 13 assists. Murphy added five assists.
