For the 10th time in the school’s history, the Borgia Lady Knights are state volleyball champions.
Playing in the Class 3 title match Saturday at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Borgia knocked off Carl Junction, 25-23, 25-21.
Borgia (33-3-2) rallied from a 19-15 deficit to take the first game.
The second game was back-and-forth until the Lady Knights took control down the stretch.
It was Borgia’s first state volleyball championship since 2004.
Meanwhile, Hermann (26-14) won its 12th state volleyball championship on Saturday with a victory over St. Pius X (Festus), 25-22, 25-18.
The 12 state volleyball titles for Hermann is now more than any other school in Missouri as the Lady Bearcats broke a tie with Incarnate Word for most state championships.
More details from the Borgia and Hermann state championships will be in Wednesday’s Missourian.
