Playing against a short-handed South Division team, the North Division cruised to a 15-5 win in the Ninth District Senior Legion All-Star Game Saturday, July 28, at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon.
The South was without 13 all-stars from the Washington Post 218 team, which was playing in the Zone 1 Tournament at Ronsick Field.
Players from Daniel Boone Post 262, Wentzville Post 323 and the Central Spartans made up the South team.
Players from St. Charles 312 did participate in the contest for the North Division, despite having to play in the zone title game Sunday in Washington.
Austin Olendorff of St. Charles even pitched one inning of the all-star game.
St. Charles ended up losing twice to Washington on Sunday.
The North also had players from the West Jaguars, who went 0-2 in the zone tournament.
Players from St. Peters Post 313 and Elsberry Post 226 also played for the North.
Washington’s all-stars not able to play were pitchers Brendan Kleekamp, Tony Helfrich, Cody Gardner, Brendan Feldmann and Luke Hasenjaeger, catcher Trent Leimkuehler, third baseman Jack Kopmann, designated hitter Matt Jones, second baseman Dilan Bollmann, shortstop Grant Eckelkamp and outfielders Mike McGilvray, Sam Deschenes and Dustin Howard.
