Ft. Zumwalt East 42, Washington 7
Ft. Zumwalt East (8-0, 4-0) secured the outright GAC Central championship with a 42-7 home victory Friday over Washington.
The Blue Jays (2-6, 0-4) grabbed an early 7-0 lead and led 7-6 after the first quarter, but trailed 21-7 at halftime and were outscored in the second half, 21-0.
Kyle Summers scored Washington’s touchdown on an eight-yard pass from Christian Hardesty.
While the Blue Jays were able to control the ball in the first half, keeping the Lions’ offense off the field, turnovers and penalties hurt Washington in the second half.
Washington turned the ball over three times in the second half. For the game, the Blue Jays had 75 yards of penalties.
Summers rushed for 124 yards on 16 carries and had the eight-yard touchdown reception.
Hardesty was 12-20 passing for 67 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Seth Bollmann finished with three catches for 34 yards.
The Blue Jays play their regular season finale Friday, Oct. 25, at Francis Howell North (2-6).
