Pacific bounced back into the win column with a Four Rivers Conference home boys basketball victory Tuesday over Owensville on senior night.

All five of the Indians’ seniors were in the starting lineup in a 59-32 victory over the Dutchmen.

Seniors honored were Zeth Boyer, Brandon Colter, Neil DeBold, Brandon Jett-Kell and Stephen Watson.

“All of our seniors started and gave us some good minutes before we got our regular starters back in the game,” said Pacific Head Coach John VanLeer. “It was good for them to get in the game and help contribute to the win.”

It was a big first half for the Indians, who held leads of 17-7 after one quarter and 31-12 at halftime.

Pacific (13-8, 3-1) held a 47-23 lead after three quarters.

The Indians shot 37 percent from the field and were 7-14 from the free-throw line.

“We did a good job pressing them, getting them to turn it over and going ahead 17-7 after the first quarter,” VanLeer said. “Our defense was good, but we’re still not shooting ball the way we’re capable of. We got 12 offensive rebounds and some put backs.”

Cullen VanLeer, a sophomore, came off the bench to score 27 points to go with five assists for the Indians.

Zeth Boyer added 15 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Tanner Brown registered 10 points, four assists and two steals.

“Tanner had a nice game,” VanLeer said. “He gave us a spark early.”

Jett-Kell collected three points and two rebounds.

DeBold finished with two points.

Zach Kraus and Watson both scored one point. Kraus had two assists and two steals. Watson added six rebounds and two steals.

Jeffrey Hinkle registered five rebounds and two steals. Logan Armstrong and Noah Boyer both pulled down two rebounds. Chris Klenke and Colter also played.

Owensville (5-15, 0-4) was led by Drew Garner, who scored 12 points. Cole Farris added seven points.

St. Clair and St. James both were 4-0 in the FRC heading into Friday’s contest between the two teams in St. Clair.

Pacific played Friday at Sullivan. Both teams were 3-1 in the FRC.

The Indians visit Hermann Tuesday and hosts St. Clair Friday, Feb. 15.

“We still have a chance to win the conference, but we’re ultimately getting ready for districts,” VanLeer said. “We just have to continue to improve.”
