Washington Post 218 lives to play another day.

Thanks to a two-hit shutout by Brendan Feldmann, Post 218 eliminated Moberly Post 6 Saturday from the Senior Legion Zone 1 Tournament at Rotary Recreational Complex - Ronsick Field, 10-0.

Post 218 will play St. Charles in the championship series Sunday. Washington needs to beat St. Charles twice to repeat as Zone 1 Tournament champion.

First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 11 a.m. If a second game is necessary, it will start about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

For the third game in a row during the tournament, Post 218 received a strong effort from its starting pitcher. Feldmann pitched all eight innings while allowing two hits, four walks and one hit batter while striking out seven. He delivered 105 pitches with 44 balls and 61 strikes.

Feldmann received plenty of support from the offense. Post 218 scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule and hand Feldmann the complete game shutout. Had the game gone into the ninth inning, Feldmann was scheduled to be relieved.

Washington batters were patient, forcing Moberly pitchers Nathan Vanboening and Dylan Huffman to combine for 175 pitches. Washington had nine hits, nine walks and one hit batter.

Post 218 stranded 10 runners while Moberly left six on base. Moberly made the game's four errors.

Mike McGilvray and Matt Jones each had two hits for Washington. McGilvray doubled and tripled. Jones hit a single and a triple.

Grant Eckelkamp, Trent Leimkuehler, Sam Deschenes, Dustin Howard and Noah Borgerding each had one hit.
