They called it redemption week.

Playing at the Ft. Zumwalt North Softball Tournament, the Washington Lady Jays captured the championship with a 6-3 victory over Ft. Zumwalt North Saturday in the title contest.

Washington opened the event Friday with a 13-1 win over Winfield and knocked off Union Saturday in the semifinals, 7-4.

Earlier in the week, Washington won a GAC Central game over Holt, 5-4.

The Lady Jays had lost to all four of their last opponents, Ft. Zumwalt North, Union, Winfield and Holt, earlier in the season.

They’ve lost to Ft. Zumwalt North twice this season.

Courtney Kedroski blasted a pair of home runs on Saturday, one against Union in the semifinals, and another in the championship game against Ft. Zumwalt North.

Kedroski’s home run against Union gave her the school record for career RBIs.

Earlier in the season, MC Landolt broke the school record for career hits and Kaelie Smith broke the school mark for career walks.

See Wednesday’s Missourian for more details from Washington’s tournament championship.
