It was more than just being gracious hosts.

The Pacific Swim Team yielded its normal bullpen area Monday in its Gateway Swimming and Diving Conference Janet Evans Division meet to visiting Lake of the Woods.

The much bigger Lake of the Woods roster needed the extra space, and when the meet was over, that depth yielded a 344-184 victory for the visitors.

“Our meet went well,” said Pacific Head Coach Hart Hillhouse. “The meet ran extremely smooth. Our parent volunteers do a wonderful job at helping out at meets.”

Hillhouse said the Pacific team did well in the opener.

“Our swimmers swam some of their best times of their career on Pacific’s team so I look forward to the rest of the season to see them keep improving,” Hillhouse said. “I expect our team to be competitive in every meet we swim at this season.”

Pacific travels to Union Monday for a 6 p.m. dual meet. Union defeated Arbor Oaks in its opener, but technical problems have kept those results from being submitted.

The meet opened with individual medley races. Pacific’s winners were Elizabeth Wamsley, Lexi Delmain and Nick Wamsley.

Finishing second for Pacific were Jonah De Beir and Lizi Delmain.

Scoring a point for a third-place finish was Kaitlyn Delmain.

In the freestyle races, Pacific’s first-place finishers in scoring heats were Isaac Van Deven, Hope Bratch, Lexi Delmain and Nick Wamsley.

In the breaststroke races, Pacific’s winners were Hope Bratch, Dan Wamsley, Alyssa Crum and Lizi Delmain.

In the freestyle relay races, Pacific won two races, sweeping the 13-14 age division. Pacific’s girls team of Livi Lindemann, Lillian Hardcastle, Lizi Delmain and Lexi Delmain swam to victory.

The boys team of Adam Van Winkle, Tim Toney, Ryan Sauvage and Nick Wamsley followed suit.

In the backstroke races, Pacific’s winners were James Wamsley and Lexi Delmain.

In the butterfly races, Pacific’s first-place finishers were Lizi Delmain and Nick Wamsley.

Medley relay races ended the meet. Pacific won one of those races with the boys 13-14 team of Tim Toney, Ryan Sauvage, Nick Wamsley and Adam Van Winkle taking the title.
