With a deep running attack and a stingy defense, Timberland put a damper on Washington’s new field celebration with a 48-0 victory.
The Wolves rushed for five touchdowns and added a touchdown on defense.
Leading 13-0 at halftime, Timberland outscored Washington in the second half, 35-0.
The Wolves (2-0) have not allowed a single point in two games this season after defeating Parkway West in their opener, 27-0.
A one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Andrew Jehle and a pair of field goals by Brendan Rowe gave Timberland a 13-0 halftime advantage.
The Wolves broke it open in the third quarter on a pair of touchdown runs from 12 yards and eight yards by Devin McDaniel and a 21-yard dash by Bryce Becker, increasing their lead to 34-0.
In the fourth quarter, Robbie Klos returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown and Jared Kine broke free for a 50-yard touchdown run.
Trailing 13-0, Washington had the ball inside the Timberland 10-yard line late in the first half, but lost the ball on downs at the two-yard line.
Quarterback Isaac Lippert was 9-13 passing for 122 yards.
Christian Hardesty was 5-8 passing for 22 yards.
Kyle Summers carried the ball 18 times for 68 yards.
The Blue Jays (1-1) rushed for 97 yards as a team.
Washington’s 1973 Class 3A state championship team was honored at halftime for its 40-year anniversary.
A number of players and coaches, including head coach Jim Scanlan, were on hand for the festivities.
