For the second straight season, the Washington wrestling squad captured a district team championship.
Competing Friday and Saturday at the Class 3 District 1 Tournament in Farmington, the Blue Jays topped the 15-team field with 218 points.
Farmington finished second with 184.5 points, De Soto placed third with 144, Pacific finished fourth with 96.5 and Union ended fifth with 93.5.
Washington had 11 state qualifiers and three individual champions.
Claiming district titles were Nicholas Solter (45-3) at 126 pounds, Cody Gardner (13-4) at 132 and Cole Hamai (43-0) at 145. Hamai is a four-time district champion.
Other state qualifiers with top four finishes were Cody Hey (second at 106), Parker Neptune (second at 113), Kyle Summers (second at 182), Logan Baird (second at 195), Matt Pecka (second at 285), Josh Luck (third at 138), Jeremy Monehan (third at 160) and Izeck Elbert (fourth at 152).
Pacific and Union both had four state qualifiers.
For the Indians, district champions were Josh Franek (41-3) at 120 pounds and Austin Repp (54-0) at 170 pounds.
Dalton Voyles (second at 160) and Lane Smith (fourth at 138) also qualified for state.
For the Wildcats, Dalton Kuenzel (42-2) won the 182-pound crown.
Also qualifying for state were Joe Lasky (second at 220), Dawson Sickmeier (fourth at 106) and Dylan Ahern (fourth at 170).
At the Class 2 District 1 Tournament in Ste. Genevieve, St. Clair finished fourth in the team standings with 113 points and had four state qualifiers.
Leading the Bulldogs was Dustin Conner (25-3), who won the 170-pound crown.
Other state qualifiers were Skyler Hutchison (second at 195), Chris Algiere (third at 132) and Thomas Maple (fourth at 106).
