Pacific snapped a three-game baseball losing streak Monday with a 13-0 home victory over Windsor.

The Indians (8-7) are seeded fourth for the Class 4 District 4 Tournament at Ronsick Field in Washington. They open the event against fifth-seeded St. Clair Saturday at noon.

Tyler Straatmann pitched four innings for the win. He allowed no runs on four hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Austin Muich tossed two scoreless innings in relief. He walked one and struck out one.

“It was nice to get a win. We did a lot of things well,” said Pacific Head Coach Jeff Reed. “Our pitchers pounded the strike zone. We didn’t give up a walk until the sixth inning. We got good production up and down the lineup. We had good approaches at the plate.”

Tanner Brown, Ryan Howell, Allen Fitzgerald and Straatmann each finished the game with two hits.

Brown also scored four runs and had two RBIs. Howell had three RBIs.

Hank Vandaveer, Jake Null, Hunter Finney and Eain Roberts each added one hit.

Roberts added three RBIs and two runs. Vandaveer had two RBIs.

Pacific lost Tuesday, April 30, at Hermann, 9-7.

“Give credit to Hermann, but we didn’t have that killer instinct,” said Reed. “We let them hang around, which ended up biting us in the tail.”

Craig Winkelmann and Austin Wurtz both had three hits and two RBIs for Hermann.

Saige Hale added one hit and two RBIs. Grant Ruediger, Kody Thompson and Conner Lane each had one hit.

Ben Held pitched the first six innings for the win. He allowed seven runs, four earned, on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Ruediger took over in the seventh inning and earned the save.

Vandaveer paced Pacific at the plate with three hits, one RBI and one run. Howell added two hits and two RBIs.

Alex Rice, Brown, Null, Finney and Roberts each had one hit.

Howell was the Indians’ starting pitcher. In four innings, he allowed three runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Zeth Boyer and Muich pitched in relief.

Pacific lost Wednesday, May 1, at Helias in five innings.

Vandaveer got the start on the mound and was relieved in the second inning by Straatmann.

“Hank should have been out of the first inning in 15 pitches with no runs. We dropped a fly ball in the outfield that opened things up for them,” Reed said. “You cant give a good team like Helias extra outs.”

Null collected two of the Indians’ three hits. Lucas Zurliene had the other.

Pacific’s game last Thursday at Timberland was called off in the bottom of second inning due to rain.

The Indians had a 3-0 lead when the game was halted.

Howell had a two-run triple, scoring Fitzgerald and Roberts. James Howie followed with an RBI groundout.

Zurliene was on the mound.

“We had a freshman on the mound and a freshman (Finney) behind the plate,” Reed said. “I saw some good things in the two innings. It was nice to see smiles on faces.”
