Looking to finish with a win, the St. James Lady Tigers played Friday afternoon in Columbia for third place in the MSHSAA Class 3 state tournament.

The Lady Tigers (25-5) fell Friday afternoon to Cameron (20-11) in the Class 3 semifinals at Mizzou Arena, 68-53.

The Lady Tigers took on North Tech (20-7) as The Weekend Missourian was going to press. The game tipped off at 1:40 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.

A win would match the highest-ever finish for the Lady Tigers. St. James also finished third in Class 4 in 2004 and 2005.

Cameron plays St. Charles Lutheran (27-4) Saturday for the championship.

St. James never led in the game, but did cut the gap to three points twice in the third quarter.

Cameron led 12-8 after one quarter, 34-23 at the half and 46-37 after three quarters.

Cameron dominated the boards in the game, outrebounding St. James by a 49-19 margin. St. James did force 22 turnovers while only making seven, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the rebounding difference.
