It will be the top two seeds slugging it out in the championship game of the Washington Boys Basketball Tournament.

In the championship semifinals Friday night, top-seeded Washington outlasted fourth-seeded Bayless 58-51 and second-seeded St. Charles topped third-seeded Borgia, 58-48.

Ronnie Suggs paced the Blue Jays with 17 points while Brad Carpenter added 12 points.

Munir Hirkic led Bayless with 15 points.

Casey Teson led the way for St. Charles with 16 points and Sam Kohrs added 14.

Adam Meyer scored 14 points for Borgia and Joe Helfrich added 13.

The Knights trailed 40-16 at halftime and outscored the Pirates 32-18 in the second half, including 16-4 in the fourth quarter.

Saturday’s schedule is as follows:

• Seventh-place game - St. Clair (2-8) vs. Ft. Zumwalt East (2-10), 2:30 p.m.

• Consolation game - Westminster (6-5) vs. Francis Howell Central (7-5), 4 p.m.

• Third-place game - Borgia (8-3) vs. Bayless (9-3), 5:30 p.m.

• Championship game - Washington (9-5) vs. St. Charles (12-3), 7 p.m.

Union Girls Tournament

It also will be the top two seeds in the championship game at the Union Girls Basketball Tournament.

The championship semifinals took place Thursday with top-seeded Eureka defeating fourth-seeded Borgia 52-44 and second second-seeded Sullivan edging third-seeded St. Charles West, 37-34.

Friday’s consolation semifinals had fifth-seeded Helias blasting eighth-seeded Madison Prep 67-4 and sixth-seeded Washington rolling past seventh-seeded Union, 56-22.

Saturday’s schedule is as follows:

• Seventh-place game - Union vs. Madison Prep, 1 p.m.

• Consolation game - Helias vs. Washington, 2:30 p.m.

• Third-place game - Borgia vs. St. Charles West, 4 p.m.

• Championship game - Eureka vs. Sullivan, 5:30 p.m.
