Nearing the end of the major invitational track meets, Borgia competed last Tuesday at the Troy Trojan Invitational.
Borgia’s girls placed third in the team standings with 117 points, finishing behind only Troy (185) and Holt (144).
“We were very happy with the girls,” Borgia girls Coach Stacia Parsell said. “We are looking forward to the AAA conference meets and have high expectations.”
The boys finished eighth with 38 points. Holt won the meet with 139 points.
On the girls side, Claire Schroeder earned three medals in the meet. She won the long jump with a leap of 15-6 and the triple jump at 31-7. She placed third in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.97 and fifth in the high jump at 4-6.
“Claire Schroeder was the big winner bringing home three medals,” Parsell said. “She is a great competitor and keeps improving every meet.”
Another athlete who stepped up was Emmy Glastetter. She won the 800-meter run (2:34) while placing seventh in the 1,600-meter run in 6:01.31.
“Emmy Glastetter ran her best 800 and was part of the winning 3,200-meter relay team,” said Parsell.
Borgia’s team of Glastetter, Haley Russell, Emma Ritter and Taylor Nadler won the 3,200-meter relay in 10:14.6.
Katie Lindemann placed third in both the shot put (30-4) and the discus (91-4) during the meet.
“Katie Lindemann had a great day throwing,” Parsell said. “She is gaining confidence with every competition.”
Other top-five finishers were:
• Kristen Roach placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.4.
• Baylee Godat was fourth in the 100-meter high hurdles (18.35) and the 300-meter low hurdles (52.77).
• Borgia’s 400-meter relay team of Clara Blatt, Katelyn Boland, Roach and Hannah Williams was fourth in 55.75.
• Katie Eime placed fourth in the high jump at 4-8.
• Kelsie Langenberg was fourth in the long jump at 14-4.5.
• Borgia’s 1,600-meter relay team of Blatt, Ashton Dietrich, Emma Ritter and Godat placed fifth in 4:45.74.
On the boys side, Coach Bill Stevison pointed out the performance of Casey Kuchem, who took third in the discus (120-11) and sixth in the shot put (38-3).
“Casey Kuchem is fighting through injury and is still putting everything together in the discus,” Stevison said. “His third-place finish and personal best was nice to see.”
Other Knights to place in the top five were:
• Robbie Vossbrink was third in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.37.
• Borgia’s 3,200-meter relay team of Colten Conroy, Chris Holdmeyer, Danny Millick and Aaron Piontek placed fifth in 9:09.77.
• Aaron Neier was fifth in the shot put at 38-3.
