Rebounding from suffering two losses last week, the Washington Post 218 Juniors (14-2, 11-1) continued their new winning streak with three dominating Ninth District victories.

Washington broke out to beat St. Charles Saturday at Rotary Recreational Complex - Ronsick Field, 8-1.

On Sunday, Post 218 stopped Elsberry at home, 10-0.

And, on Monday, Washington won at Wentzville, 19-1.

Post 218 played Sullivan Tuesday at 6 p.m. before getting the big rematch Thursday.

Washington visits Pacific for a 6:30 p.m. game Thursday night. That’s a rematch of last Tuesday’s league showdown won by Pacific.

St. Charles

Hosting St. Charles Saturday, Washington scored once in the bottom of the first, but needed additional time to score again.

Post 218 scored once in the fourth. St. Charles cut the lead to 2-1 in the fifth, but Post 218 added another run in the bottom of that frame.

Washington broke free with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

“Our boys put together another solid effort against St. Charles,” said Post 218 Manager Phillip Kleekamp. “We were constantly putting pressure on their defense picking up runs in the first, fourth, and fifth innings. However, the game was put out of reach in the sixth. Nine of our batters went to put in the sixth chasing five runners home.”

Aaron Meyer went the distance on the hill, allowing one run on two hits and three walks. He struck out nine Post 312 batters.

“Aaron Meyer got the start and was dominant for the majority of the game,” Kleekamp said. “He went the distance only allowing one run on two hits while striking out nine St. Charles batters. It had been a while since Aaron has pitched for us, but I thought he looked very sharp besides the three walks he issued.”

Offensively, Seth Bollmann, Ross Seitter and Ryan Becszlko each had two hits in the game.

“Our first two batters led the way for us offensively,” Kleekamp said. “Seth Bollmann and Ross Seitter each picked up two hits and scored twice. Those guys have really done a great job at the top of our lineup. Each of them does a great job putting the ball in play and making things happen. Ryan Becszlko also had a good day picking up two hits.”

Spencer Juergens, Nathaniel Hillermann, Kyle Summers and Justin Baylard posted one hit apiece.

Bollmann, Summers and Baylard each doubled.

Bollmann and Seitter scored twice while Hillermann, Becszlko, Summers and Baylard each scored once.

Hillermann, Summers and Baylard drove in runs. Himmelberg walked.

“Kyle Summers continued his success at the plate,” Kleekamp said.

Becszlko stole two bases.

Elsberry

Post 218 roared to a 10-0 win in five innings Sunday over Elsberry at Rotary Recreational Complex - Ronsick Field.

Post 218 scored nine times in the second inning and once in the fifth to finish it out.

“One big inning sealed the deal Sunday at Ronsick Field against Elsberry,” Kleekamp said. “Our boys put together a significant rally in the second inning plating nine runs. We really were able to use the small ball aspect of our game on Sunday. Our boys laid down four bunts in the inning to kick start our rally. Elsberry had a tough time fielding bunts, but you have to give our boys credit. They have really improved in the bunting department. It should be an asset as we get closer to the district tournament.”

Elsberry managed one hit and one walk against Hillermann. He struck out seven over five innings.

Offensively, Meyer, Becszlko, Himmelberg and Nick Thiel each had two hits. Bollmann, Seitter, Juergens and Summers had one hit apiece.

Meyer and Himmelberg doubled.

Seitter and Himmelberg scored twice. Bollmann, Meyer, Becszlko, Juergens, Summers and Thiel each crossed the plate once.

Meyer drove in three runs while Bollmann and Juergens had two RBIs. Becszlko, Himmelberg and Thiel drove in one run each.

Seitter walked three times. Becszlko and Juergens also drew walks.

Becszlko stole two bases. Seitter had one stolen base.

Wentzville

Believe it or not, someone actually got to play baseball Monday night.

Playing in Wentzville, the Washington Post 218 Juniors rained runs down on the host team in a 19-1 victory.

Washington scored six times in the first inning and added seven runs in the second before Wentzville scored its lone run in the bottom of that inning.

Washington added three runs in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to end it early.

Becszlko was the winning pitcher, going three innings while allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks. He struck out four.

Summers pitched the final two innings, striking out three.

Meyer posted three hits, including a double. Hillermann bashed two doubles and Seitter had two hits, including one double.

Players with one hit each were Bollmann, Baylard (double), Himmelberg, Schumaker and Todd Feldmann.

Himmelberg crossed the plate four times while Hillermann scored three runs. Bollmann, Seitter, Meyer, Juergens and Baylard each scored twice. Schumaker and Feldmann scored one time apiece.

Meyer drove in five while Seitter and Feldmann each had three RBIs. Baylard drove in two while Hillermann, Himmelberg and Max Diener each had one RBI.

Bollmann and Juergens each walked twice. Seitter, Baylard, Himmelberg and Feldmann each walked once.

Hillermann, Baylard, Himmelberg, Schumaker and Diener were hit by pitches.

Meyer and Himmelberg stole two bases each. Hillermann, Juergens and Baylard stole one base apiece.
