Pacific Post 320 held the lead throughout its Junior Legion baseball game Wednesday at New Haven in a 10-2 victory.

Post 320 (14-2, 10-1) suffered its first Ninth District loss of the season Thursday at home against Washington, 3-1.

Allen Fitzgerald pitched all seven innings for Pacific in the win over New Haven. He allowed two unearned runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

“Allen threw only 82 pitches, 56 for strikes,” said Post 320 Manager Cory Cowsert. “He had good command and pounded the strike zone. He’s been solid for us this year.”

Post 320 jumped to a 9-0 lead with three runs in the top of the second inning, one in the third and five in the fifth.

New Haven scored both of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Pacific added a run in the top of the seventh.

Tyler Gerling reached base four times for Pacific with two hits (one double) and two walks to go with four RBIs and two runs.

Ryan Ray was on base three times with one hit and two walks to go with three runs.

Fitzgerald collected one hit (double), one walk and one RBI.

Drew Fonner collected one hit, three RBIs and one run.

Austin Kennedy added one hit and two runs.

Ryan Vogelgesang had two walks and two runs.

“We played really well. Their starting pitcher had some talent. He threw pretty hard,” Cowsert said. “He shut us down in the first inning, but we got to him with three runs in the second. He got a little wild and we were smart enough to be patient at the plate and take what they gave us.”
