A total of four wrestlers from the area will compete for state championships Saturday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Reaching the finals of their respective weight classes, all in Class 3, were Washington’s Nicholas Solter at 126 pounds, Warrenton’s Dan Filipek at 145, Pacific’s Austin Repp at 170 and Union’s Dalton Kuenzel at 182.

Area wrestlers who have reached the medal round and have a chance to place anywhere from third to sixth are Washington’s Parker Neptune (113), Kyle Summers (182) and Logan Baird (195), Union’s Joe Lasky (220) and Pacific’s Josh Franek (120) in Class 3 and Owensville’s Christopher Dolles (170) and AJ Harrell (195) in Class 2.

In the Class 3 team standings, Washington stands in seventh-place with 59 points, 37.5 points behind fourth-place Platte County. The top four teams earn trophies.

Neosho stands in first place with 164.5 points followed Staley with 139.5, Kearney with 104 and Platte County with 96.5

Union is in 10th place with 36 points and Pacific is in 11th with 34.

Saturday’s action begins with the fourth-round wrestlebacks at 10 a.m. followed by the third-and five-place matches at noon.

The championship bouts begin at 4:30 p.m.
