Sullivan gained a share of the Four Rivers Conference girls basketball championship with a 58-55 victory Thursday at St. James.

The Lady Eagles (20-3, 6-1) and Hermann (21-4, 6-1) share the conference championship this season.

“It’s only the third time Sullivan has won a conference championship and the first since time since 2009,” said Sullivan Head Coach Jason Merkel. “I am extremely proud of how the girls played and reached one of their goals this year.”

Taylor Lucas led the way for Sullivan with 18 points. Sierra Pryor added 12 points.

Also for the Lady Eagles, Aley Lucas finished with nine points, Megan Brandt collected seven points, Jessica Heinle registered five points and Kaitlynn Hill and Demi Reed both had four points.

St. James (21-4, 4-3) was led by Ashlee Marlatt, who scored 18 points.

MJ Buschmann added 14 points. Alexis Uffman had 10 points.

“It was a great game by two good teams,” Merkel said. “Going into this atmosphere and being able to win was huge for us. It was a must-win game for our girls and they stood up to the test.”
