While the schedule hasn’t been completed, Borgia has its first boys swimming home meet scheduled.

The Knights will host the Archdiocesan Athletic Association championship meet Friday, Oct. 11, at the Four Rivers Area YMCA in Washington starting at 3 p.m.

Borgia Athletic Director Brad Bruns announced more meets will be announced as they’re added.

Coach Jennifer Alferman-Molitor has nine swimmers at this point. Practices started Tuesday.

Of the nine current swimmers, six have experience.

Michael Matthews, Jacob Smith, Tommy Ruether, Sam Haddox and Connor Kriete swam for Alferman-Molitor with the Washington Swim Team this past summer. Most have extensive summer swimming experience.

Coleman Kuseliauskas swam at Pacific and also has experience with the FRAY Penguins and the Rockwood Swim Club.

“These boys are doing great and already hitting my goal for distance at practice,” Alferman-Molitor said.

Three newcomers are Matt Bruton, Jon Sites and Jacob Maune.

“Those boys are picking up everything really quickly,” Alferman-Molitor said. “I am impressed at how hard they are pushing themselves. I know how hard it is to pick up this sport at their age and they are really giving it their all.”
