Defending its home field, St. Clair held off New Haven Tuesday for a Four Rivers Conference softball victory.

The Lady Bulldogs (5-12, 2-4) scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 7-4 win.

“I don’t think we played our best, but we were able to come out and get the job done,” said St. Clair Head Coach Rob Hauck. “Wins are valuable at every level, especially at home, and teams need to do whatever they have to in order to make sure they get the win.”

Tori Martin pitched all seven innings for the win. She allowed four runs on five hits with eight walks and six strikeouts.

Karissa Hoffman and Alicia York (one triple) led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits apiece. York added three RBIs and a run. Hoffman had one RBI and two runs.

Sarah Hinson, Marissa Laubinger, Brittany Rogers (double), Kelsey Lack (double), Stephanie Stradford and Martin each finished with one hit.

Hinson also walked and scored. Martin also was hit by a pitch and scored two runs. Rogers collected two RBIs. Laubinger had one RBI. Stradford scored a run.

Stephanie Scheer pitched all six innings for New Haven. She allowed seven runs, three earned, on nine hits (12 hits in St. Clair’s scorebook) with one walk and two strikeouts.

Meagan Ley paced the Lady Shamrocks with three hits (two triples) and three RBIs.

Blair Bowers and Carlie Steinbeck both had one hit. Bowers added two RBIs. Lindsey Nixon drew three walks. Carlie Steinbeck walked twice.

St. Clair lost Wednesday at St. James, 14-4.

St. Clair-Pacific

Playing on senior night, Pacific’s bats came alive in a 16-6 win over St. Clair Thursday at Pacific High School.

“It was a great game for us. What a game for my seniors to have as their last softball game on our field,” said Pacific Head Coach Tonya Lewis. “Seniors Hunter Kelemen, Amber Zurliene, Holly Huff and Allison Schulte were all feeling good after the game and were really excited to have their last home game at PHS be a positive one.”

Pacific (6-13, 4-2) got good production from its seniors.

Kelemen, Zurliene and Huff each finished with two hits. Schulte walked, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs.

Marissa Tate pitched the entire game for Pacific.

“Marissa had a no-hitter going through the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, St. Clair’s hitters started making it really interesting,” Lewis said. “St. Clair has some girls who can really hit the ball. It was great to see my girls answer their rally with one of our own.”

Tate also led the Lady Indians’ offense, going 4-5 at the plate with a home run, a double and four RBIs.

Madison LeClaire and Meagan Wakefield both collected two hits.

St. Clair’s statistics were not available at press time.

The Lady Indians won Tuesday at St. James, 4-1, and lost Wednesday at home to Lutheran South, 13-9.

Amber Zurliene pitched all seven innings against St. James. She allowed one run on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Claire Schulte, Wakefield and Zurliene each collected two hits.

Sierra Edmond, Alyssa Rowbottom, Huff, Kelemen and LeClaire each added one hit.

Against Lutheran South, Schulte was 4-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Wakefield and Tate both added three hits.
