Playing at home on senior night, Pacific avenged a loss to St. Clair earlier in the season with a 2-1 girls soccer victory Tuesday night.

The Lady Indians broke a 1-1 tie on a goal by Cheyenne Jennings, assisted by Morgan Webb, with approximately 15 minutes remaining in the second half, which proved to be the game winner.

“We moved the ball well and did a lot of good things,” said Pacific Head Coach Sarah Schultz. “St. Clair’s goalie was amazing. Our defense really stepped up and kept the ball moving forward.”

Pacific (5-11, 3-3) controlled much of the first half with a number of scoring chances, but scored just one goal.

“We were a little sloppy and flat in the first half,” said St. Clair Head Coach Ted Koenigsfeld. “We played a lot better in the second half. We worked better as a team and communicated better. We moved the ball a lot better and created some scoring opportunities.”

St. Clair goalie Sam Deason kept the Lady Bulldogs in the game with some big saves during the first half.

“Sam has been stellar all year,” Koenigsfeld said. “She’s been very consistent and has done a great job.”

St. Clair (8-13-2, 3-4) was called for a hand ball inside the goalie box twice during the first half, which resulted in a pair of penalty kicks for the Lady Indians.

Webb buried the first one, giving Pacific a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Indians missed the second penalty kick.

“It was a huge relief that they missed the second one,” Koenigsfeld said. “Those hand balls were mental setbacks. It deflates the team instantly. Accidents happen, but we just can’t make that mistake twice in the same half.”

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Bulldogs tied the game approximately five minutes into the second half on a goal by Kylie Schroeder, assisted by Tori Martin.

Sydney Drysdale was in goal for Pacific.

The Lady Indians’ three seniors who were honored were Emiley Frazier, Caili Phillips and Webb.

“All of our seniors will be greatly missed,” Schultz said. “Emiley has worked hard keeping our defense strong. Caili has played tough in a new position up top. Morgan continues to lead our team offensively.”

Pacific-Sullivan

Pacific lost Thursday at Sullivan, 2-0.

Skylar Evans and Christa Rohrer scored goals for the Lady Eagles (14-6, 5-3).

Taylor Lucas and Emily Hines had the assists.

“We played a lot better than the first time we played them. I was proud of our effort, especially since we were missing our leading goal scorer to an injury,” said Sullivan Head Coach Bill Kackley. “Our defense and goalie performed at a high level. Somehow, we need to capitalize on opportunities that we don’t finish.”

St. Clair-St. James

St. Clair won a FRC contest Monday at St. James, 2-1.

“We’re in the middle of a five-game stretch of playing on grass fields, which we’re not really used to,” Koenigsfeld said. “Beating St. James was good for the team. We had a lot of opportunities and played well. The field was wet and the ball just got away from Deason on their one goal.”

Deason made four saves in goal.

Scoring goals for the Lady Bulldogs were Heather Pendegraft and Schroeder. Nicole Nardi had one assist.

St. Clair-Belle

The Lady Bulldogs won Thursday at Belle, 10-0.

The game ended with five minutes remaining in the second half due to the 10-goal mercy rule.

Deason registered the shutout in goal.

“Everybody who stepped on the field played well. We did a good job communicating, moving the ball and doing what we were supposed to do. There were very few mistakes,” Koenigsfeld said. “The girls played with confidence because they knew it was a game we could win. We need to have that mentality more often.”

Pendegraft finished the match with four goals and one assist.

Nardi collected two goals and one assist. Schroeder also netted two goals.

Kelsey Lack and Martin both scored one goal.

Ally Smiley, Mary York, and Hannah Krouper each had one assist.

“We now have eight wins. This is the third year in a row we’ve set a new record for wins in a season,” Koenigsfeld said.
