Competing at the Charlie Beck Track and Field Invitational last Saturday at University City, Washington placed sixth in the girls team standings and 12th in the boys standings out of 15 schools.

Hazelwood Central won the girls team title with 117 points. Rounding out the top five were Francis Howell, Ft. Zumwalt West, Lafayette and McCluer North.

Hazelwood Central also claimed the boys crown with 115 points. Rounding out the top five were CBC, Lafayette, Hazelwood East and Ritenour. The Blue Jays scored 15.5 points.

The top eight finishers in each event scored team points.

“We finally got some good weather and the kids competed very strong. We had a meet Thursday that I think took a lot out of us and we were missing a few people that would have really helped our team performances and scores,” said Washington Coach Mike Olszowka. “We are always commenting on how this group of kids goes out of their way to support their teammates. These are little things that will help the team continue to improve throughout the season.”
