Competing Saturday in the Saint Charles Classic dance competition, three area schools returned home with hardware.

Pacific finished in first place in the 2A pom category and in fifth place in the 2A mix category.

“We’ve been working on this pom routine since November,” said Pacific Coach Tonya Barnes. “It was very exciting to see the hard work pay off.”

Borgia’s Starry Knights competed in two categories in the event, winning both the hip hop and dance events in their division.

Washington’s Jaywalkers finished fourth in the 2A kick category and second in the 3A pom category.

Borgia Coach Sherri Roberts also reports the Starry Knights have participated in two other competitions so far this season.

In December, the Starry Knights won the dance and hip hop categories at the Yvonne Cole Invitational at Lindbergh High School.

Borgia finished second in dance and hip hop in the Chicago Land Classic, sanctioned by the Universal Dance Association.

The state competition will take place Feb. 23 at the St. Charles Family Arena. Borgia is entered in dance and hip hop and is the defending 2A state champion.
