Are you ready for some football?
If so, Borgia is the place to be Saturday as the Cyclones continue preseason play.
The Cyclones of the Great Midwest Football League will host the Sugar Creek Shockers from Kansas City at 6 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. and admission to the game is $5 for anyone 13 and over.
The Cyclones have moved from Warren County and were based in Warrenton. Last season, the team went 14-2, winning the GMFL title but losing in the national championship to the Nashville Storm.
The team is 0-1 in the preseason, losing last Saturday in Nashville, 26-21.
In that game, a rematch of last season’s championship contest, Clayton Tunney completed seven of 22 passes for one touchdown and one interception.
Deon Morris led the team in rushing with 10 carries for 58 yards. Tunney scored the only rushing touchdown. Jason Boyd caught two passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Skye Buckner-Petty, Sergio Kahn and Evan Brinker (Washington High School/Lindenwood University) each had six tackles.
Will Rodriguez kicked three field goals.
Other home games will be June 9, July 14, July 21 and Aug. 4.
Playoff games are set for Aug. 8, Aug. 25 and Sept. 8.
The team opens the regular season at the Illinois Firehawks June 2 and the first regular season home game is June 9 against the Midwest Chargers at Borgia. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
All but one home game will be played at Borgia this season.
The team indicates that one home game, July 21, will be played elsewhere in the area this season.
