It was a busy holiday season for the boys basketball and wrestling teams at Washington High School.

The wrestling squad competed in tournaments at Raytown South and Lindbergh while the boys basketball squad was in the 16-team Meramec Holiday Tournament.

The girls basketball team was last in action Dec. 20 at the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic at Sullivan High School.

Wrestling

The wrestling squad has lived up to their high expectations through the first month of the season.

The Blue Jays registered second-place team finishes at both the Westminster and Raytown South Tournaments followed by a fourth-place finish at the Lindbergh Tournament.

Washington currently is ranked third in the Class 3 team tournament rankings behind Neosho and Staley by www.missouriwrestling.com.

Leading the way are seniors Cole Hamai and Kyle Summers, both of whom are undefeated on the season.

Hamai stands with a 29-0 record and is ranked second in Class 3 at 145 pounds by missouriwrestling.com.

Summers stands with a 26-0 record and is ranked third in Class 3 at 182 pounds.

Overall, the Blue Jays currently have seven wrestlers ranked in the top eight of their respective weight classes in Class 3 by missouriwrestling.com.
