Washington kicked off its GAC Central football schedule Friday with a 37-28 home loss to Holt.

It was a tale of two halves for the Blue Jays' offense, who's offensive attack couldn't be stopped in the first half, scoring 28 points.

Washington (2-2, 0-1) did not get on the scoreboard in the second half, outscored by Holt, 16-0.

The two teams traded scoring drives throughout the first half.

Kyle Summers had touchdown runs of 18 yards and 17 yards in the first quarter for the Blue Jays.

Holt (1-3, 1-0) scored on a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Emilo Monsivais to Jake Thompson for 34 yards and to Darren Love for 55 yards.

The score was tied 14-14 after one period.

Washington outscored Holt 14-7 in the second quarter.

Seth Bollmann had a 32-yard touchdown run to give the Blue Jays a 20-14 advantage.

The Indians came back on a 16-yard touchdown run by Thompson to grab a 21-20 lead.

With 41 seconds to play in the second quarter, Washington quarterback Isaac Lippert tossed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Bollmann.

Austin Finder then scored his second two-point conversion to give Washington a 28-21 halftime lead.

Washington was held scoreless in the second half.

Holt pulled to within 28-27 with 7:13 left in the third quarter when Love returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown.

Love and the Indians struck again  when he had a 25-yard touchdown reception with 5:01 left in the third quarter, giving the Indians the lead for good, 34-28.

Holt made it a two-possession game with a field goal in the fourth quarter.

Love was a thorn in Washington's side on both sides of the ball and special teams, finishing with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Summers was a workhorse for Washington, finishing with  242 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 30 carries.  He had 208 rushing yards in the first half alone.

Bollmann also scored two touchdowns for the Blue Jays.

Washington returns to action Saturday, Sept. 28, at Ft. Zumwalt South at 1 p.m.
