Taking another step toward securing the Four Rivers Conference title, the Union soccer Lady ’Cats won 5-0 Thursday at St. James.

Union (17-2, 6-0) faces a key league game at Pacific (5-16, 5-1) Monday. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m. A victory would give the Lady ’Cats the league title.

In Thursday’s visit to Phelps County, Union scored twice in the first half and three times in the second.

Briana Lakebrink made 10 saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Five different players scored Union’s goals. Aylin Berkefeld, Alicia Brueggemann, Alyssa Coons, Bethany Coons and Kayla Thornton each scored one goal.

Kierra Mundt, Kayla Sitzes and Jordan Thorpe contributed assists.

Union closes out league play Tuesday at home against St. Clair. JV action starts at 5 p.m. On Thursday, Union visits Farmington at 5 p.m. That also will be the Pacific Tournament championship game.
