Pacific’s Austin Repp is ready to defend his MSHSAA Class 3 state title at 170 pounds this season.

Repp, 56-2 last season, won the 170-pound weight class at the Blue Chip Fall Brawl recently held at Staley High School in the Kansas City area.

Repp went 5-0 in winning the 32-wrestler bracket title. Four of the victories were by pins and one came by a decision.

While the bracket included wrestlers from Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska and Arkansas, Repp only wrestled fellow Show-Me State competitors.

Austin opened the tournament with a 1:59 pin of Charlie Lipford (Rockhurst)

In the second round, Repp pinned Michael Lipford (Rockhurst) in 2:07. Michael Lipford was a Class 4 state qualifier last season.

In the third round, Repp earned a 3-0 decision over Seth Hummer (Savannah). Hummer placed fourth in the MSHSAA championships in Class 2 at 145 pounds last season.

Competing in the semifinals, Repp pinned Dalton Tipton (Smithville) in 1:09. Tipton placed fifth at 145 pounds in Class 2 last season.

And in the title bout, Austin needed 49 seconds to pin Tyler McNutt (Benton). McNutt was fourth in Class 2 at 160 pounds at the 2013 MSHSAA championships.

Last year, Repp placed fifth in the same tournament.
