Cuba Defeats Union, 62-59 By Bill Battle Missourian Sports Editor The Missourian

Wildcats emerged victorious Tuesday at Union High School.

But they weren’t from Union.

The Cuba Wildcats handed Union a defeat in the old gym, 62-59.

Union, which starts play next week in the St. James Tournament, fell to 2-8 on the season with the setback.

The host Wildcats got a huge effort from Nick Ziegler. He scored 27 of Union’s points while going 12-21 from the field, 1-6 from beyond the three-point arc and 2-2 from the free-throw line.

Ziegler added five assists and two rebounds.

Brandon Ford closed the game with nine points, nine rebounds, five blocked shots, one assist and one steal.

Ashton Dehn scored eight points with 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.

Blake Hulsey and TJ Vitt each had five points. Hulsey added three rebounds and two steals. Vitt had eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Dylan Small scored three points with two rebounds.

Brian Borgmann scored three points with six rebounds.

Union turned the ball over 19 times in the game and went 3-7 at the free-throw line.
