Brothers Rob and Marty Hauck, head baseball coaches at St. Clair and St. James, respectively, led their teams in a Four Rivers Conference baseball contest Thursday at St. Clair.

Rob and the Bulldogs knocked off Marty and the Tigers, 12-4.

“It was a huge game for us. It was nice to get another conference win and for me personally, it’s always nice to be able to beat my brother,” Rob Hauck said. “We were able to put the ball in play and force them to make some plays. Our guys continued to battle at the plate and did an excellent job of fighting for everything throughout the game.”

Jake Oermann pitched all seven innings for St. Clair (3-5, 2-0). He allowed four runs, one earned, on eight hits with one walk, one hit batter and four strikeouts.

“Jake pitched an excellent game and continued our string of pitching well in games,” Hauck said. “He was able to pitch the entire game, which sets us up nicely for our next several games.”

Austin Gotway led the Bulldogs at the plate by going 3-5 with two RBIs and two runs.

Oermann reached base three times with two hits and a walk.

Ayden Carey was on base four times with one hit and three walks. He also had two RBIs.

Kody Halmich added one hit, one hit batsman, three RBIs and two runs.

Greg Marler collected one hit, one RBI and two runs.

Brenden Murphy and Blake Dierking both finished with one hit and one run.

Dylon Nappier and Ben Feddersen both had one hit. Nappier scored two runs.

St. Clair broke the game open with six runs in the third inning and four in the sixth.

“Jake was also able to help us at the plate. Austin had a big day at the plate, including a big double late in the game. Kody had our best hit of the game in the third inning. With two outs and two strikes, he drove in two runs with a single that helped expand our lead. It was a total team effort. The coaching staff is really proud of the boys.”

Jake Ford, Zach Dean and Troy Parker pitched for St. James (1-6, 0-2).

Jesse Hays and Dean both had two hits.
