Washington High School’s five fall sports teams begin tryouts and practice sessions Monday, Aug. 6.
Fall sports offered at Washington are football, volleyball, softball, boys soccer and boys and girls cross country.
Washington Activities Director Bill Deckelman reminds prospective athletes that they must have a completed physical form on file and proof of insurance before they are allowed to compete.
All five fall sports head coaches at WHS return from last year.
Zach Schneider is the varsity head football coach.
The schedule for all football players grades nine through 12 begins with the team check-in at 8 a.m. in the lobby of the Blue Jay Gymnasium.
A team meeting then takes place in the CJB Theater at 9 a.m.
Practice then takes place from 10 a.m.-noon.
For the remainder of the week, football practice times will be from 8 a.m.-noon.
Football practices will consist of field, classroom and weight room activities.
Kym Blankenship returns as head coach of the Washington volleyball program.
Tryouts will be held in the Blue Jay Gymnasium.
Incoming freshmen take place from 6:30-9:30 a.m.
Incoming sophomores run from 7:30-10 a.m.
Incoming juniors and seniors take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Phil King returns as Washington’s head softball coach.
Grades nine through 12 will meet at Lakeview Park from 8-10 a.m.
Varsity players will hit for one hour following the conclusion of the morning practice.
Ted Brinker begins his second season as Washington’s varsity boys soccer coach.
Grades nine though 12 will practice at Washington West Elementary School from 7-9 a.m. and from 10 a.m.-noon.
Mike Olszowka returns as Washington’s cross country coach.
The team will meet at the WHS track and practice from 8-10:30 a.m.
