It took a bit longer than they had hoped, but the St. Clair Bulldogs broke into the win column last Friday at Potosi High School.

The Bulldogs (1-5) gave head coach Casey Korn his first victory at St. Clair, cruising past the Trojans, 55-38.

Four of St. Clair’s five losses this season have come by single digits. The Bulldogs were able to seal the win this time.

“Our guys competed on the defensive end of the floor. We had double digit steals and even more deflections,” said St. Clair Head Coach Casey Korn. “I was very proud of our effort. We need to practice that hard every day.”

St. Clair begins Four Rivers Conference action this week with games Tuesday at home against Owensville and Friday at Hermann.

Against Potosi (1-4), the Bulldogs held leads of 14-9 after one quarter and broke it open with a 19-7 second-quarter run, leading 33-16 at halftime.

Both teams scored 12 points in the third quarter and 10 points in the fourth.

St. Clair shot 37 percent from the field in the game and was 7-13 from the free-throw line.

Neyko Dominguez led a balanced Bulldogs scoring attack with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Adam Brott finished the contest with 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Austin Gotway gave St. Clair a spark by scoring nine points on 4-6 shooting from the field.

Brandon York also was 4-6 shooting from the field to score eight points. He added eight rebounds and three steals.

Evan Murphy collected six points, two rebounds and two steals.

Reno Jones registered four points, five steals and two rebounds.

Evan Powell added two points and five rebounds.

Spencer Crumbaugh and Ben Feddersen both scored one point. Feddersen added four rebounds.

“We attacked the basket on offense and missed some really good looks,” Korn said. “We’re starting to get the shots we want.”

Following this week’s games against Owensville and Hermann, St. Clair will be idle until a 4 p.m. contest against Poplar Bluff Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Sullivan Shootout.

The Bulldogs will not play in the Park Hills Central Christmas Tournament this season, as they have in past years.
