Playing at the Lake Forest Challenge, the Washington golf squad finished fourth in the team standings on Monday.

The 18-hole tournament was played at Lake Forest Country Club in Lake St. Louis.

The Blue Jays had four players and posted a team score of 350.

Timberland won the meet with a team score of 321.

“We were two strokes out of third place,” said Washington Coach Tim Buschmann. “There was good competition with teams like CBC and Timberland.”

Brad Carpenter posted the top score for Washington with a round of 80, good for an eighth-place finish.

Mark Stahlhuth finished 10th overall with a score of 81.

Also playing for the Blue Jays were Colbey Schuster with 93 and Sebastian Hommes with 96.

“It was a tough day of golf. We played the ball up everywhere from the tips,” Buschmann said. “The long, tight course with tree-lined fairways and strong wind out of the north made hitting fairways a premium. Our team had not played on greens that fast yet this season."
