Sullivan continued its big season on the golf course with a first-place finish at the Four Rivers Conference golf meet Monday at Birch Creek Golf Club in Union.

It’s been a memorable school year for Sullivan’s boys, who won the outright FRC title in football and golf, shared the league crown with St. Clair in basketball and currently is unbeaten in the conference in baseball.

Sullivan cruised to the team title with a score of 314, easily ahead of St. Clair’s second-place total of 358.

Pacific placed third with 361 followed by St. James with 367, Owensville with 370, Hermann with 376 and Union with 382.

“I’m really happy for our guys. They’ve been working hard with the goal of just getting better,” said St. Clair Coach Casey Korn. “This has been a fun group that is willing to stay late and work.”

Sullivan also won the regular season FRC title followed by Pacific, St. Clair, St. James, Owensville, Union and Hermann.

“The weather finally cooperated and we were able to have a good day to play golf. Congratulations to Sullivan on their outstanding season,” said Union Coach Bill Juengel. “A big thanks to the grounds crew and staff at Birch Creek for having the course in great shape and for their continued support of high school golf.”

The top 10 players in the individual standings received medals.

Sullivan had the top three scores in the tournament.

Ryan Juergens and Gavin Yociss both carded 18-hole rounds of 75. Juergens took first-place honors by a scorecard tiebreaker.

Justin Biermann of the Eagles placed third with a 78.

Hermann’s Austin Ruediger was the fourth-place finisher with a score of 80.

Placing fifth overall was Owensville’s Zane West with a round of 83.

Pacific’s Brendan Jett-Kell finished sixth with a total of 84.

Also carding a round of 84 and placing seventh was Union female Hinako Kishimoto.

“Hinako played very well and was pretty excited after the tournament,” Juengel said.

Earning eighth-place honors with a score of 86 was St. Clair’s Brandon York.

Pacific’s Tyler McDonald also shot an 86 to place ninth.

Rounding out the medalists with a 10th-place finish with an 86 was Hermann’s Collin Hart.

Sullivan’s Drew Armstrong also shot an 86, but placed just outside of the medalists due to scorecard tiebreakers.

“The weather was great and Birch Creek was in great shape,” said Pacific Coach John VanLeer. “Brendan played a solid round. It was a good day for Tyler McDonald finishing in top 10. He has made steady improvement all year. Finishing second in the conference standings is a nice accomplishment considering we had two players playing varsity who came out for golf for the first time.”

Also playing for the FRC champion Eagles was Tylor Carrico with a score of 90.

Joining York and helping St. Clair to the second-place team finish was Matt Gordon with 89, Kyle Juergens with 89, Colbie Viessman with 94 and Ben Bardot with 103.

Helping Pacific to a third-place finish, in addition to Jett-Kell and McDonald, were Charlie Brinker with 92, Michael Stinson with 99 and Logan Armstrong with 103.

St. James did not have a medalist, but still managed to finish fifth. Playing for the Tigers were Jack Mueller with 88, Jake Shockley with 90, Colin Hayes with 94, Levi Auxier with 95 and Chris Stull with 104.

West led Owensville’s sixth-place finish. Other Dutchmen on the course were Dustin Nicks with 91, Blake Mehrhoff with 95, Doug Hudnall with 101 and Tanner Jackson with 114.

Joining Ruediger and Hart for Hermann were Zach Cole with 103, Dillon Raterman with 107 and Joey Stiers with 110.

Kishimoto led the way for Union in the meet. Also playing for the Wildcats were Alex Gaebe with 95, Brennan Higgins with 96, Jobie Richardson with 107 and Jacob Doepke with 109.

Named to the first-team all-conference squad were Sullivan’s Armstrong, Carrico and Juergens, Pacific’s Jett-Kell and Hermann’s Ruediger.

Honorable mention selections were Sullivan’s Biermann, St. James’ Shockley, Hermann’s Hart, Owensville’s West and St. Clair’s Gordon.
