Spring is coming faster than you might think.
Spring sports teams are headed to preseason jamboree scrimmage events starting later this week.
Union girls soccer is hosting a four-team jamboree Friday at Stierberger Stadium. Parkway West, St. Pius and Farmington will be visiting for that event.
Union baseball will head to the Lutheran South Jamboree Saturday. The Wildcats will take on Lutheran South at 10 a.m. and Ft. Zumwalt South at 11:15 p.m. Ryan Bailey is the head coach again this season.
Borgia’s boys volleyball team under CJ Steiger will play a scrimmage Wednesday, March 14, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Dominic. That’s the only Borgia team competing in a jamboree.
Washington baseball and Bolivar will participate in a jamboree at Rolla next Tuesday, March 13. Festivities begin with Rolla taking on Bolivar at 4:30 p.m. Washington then scrimmages Bolivar at 5:30 p.m. The Blue Jays and Rolla close out the jamboree with the final scrimmage at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature free substitutions and each half inning will end after either three outs or eight runs are scored, whichever comes first. Each scrimmage will last no more than four innings and a player may pitch for no more than two innings.
Pacific girls soccer will be a part of Thursday’s preseason jamboree at Hillsboro, along with Seckman. The Lady Indians are scheduled to scrimmage Hillsboro at 5 p.m. and Seckman at 5:45 p.m.
One other Pacific squad will see preseason action this week when Indians baseball takes part in a jamboree at Vianney Saturday. Vianney and Parkway South begin the action at 10 a.m. with a four-inning scrimmage. Pacific follows against Parkway South for four innings at 11 a.m. and the Indians and the host school conclude the festivities with the final four innings, starting at 12 p.m.
