Hoping for good weather, area golfers head west Monday and Tuesday for the MSHSAA Boys Golf Championships.

The Class 3 State Tournament takes place at Old Kinderhook Golf Resort in Camdenton.

The Class 4 State Tournament takes place at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City.

In Class 3, St. Francis Borgia Regional is one of eight teams qualified for the team championship. The Knights are joined by Helias, John Burroughs, Lutheran South, Priory, St. Pius X (Kansas City), Pembroke Hill and Springfield Catholic.

Borgia’s team consists of Tommy Alferman, Will Schroeder, Zach Unnerstall, Mark Maguire and Brady Linz.

Other area Class 3 qualified golfers are Union’s Josh Jones, Sullivan’s Bennett Tiefenbrunn, Warrenton’s Travis Toebben and Pacific’s Cameron VanLeer. 

In the Class 4 State Tournament, Washington’s Logan McPherson is the only area golfer.

Hermann, the defending state champion in Class 2, did not qualify any golfers for this year’s state meet.
