Several area basketball teams will be making final preparations for the new season in upcoming days.
The teams will be playing in jamboree events, organized preseason scrimmages involving multiple teams and sanctioned by MSHSAA.
The scrimmages will not be as long as normal games and teams are limited in how many quarters and minutes they can play in total. The scrimmages will be scored and team fouls will be kept for the purpose of bonus and double-bonus awards for free throws. Individual scoring and fouls will not be kept. Each team will get two timeouts per scrimmage.
Borgia’s girls basketball team will host a three-team girls basketball jamboree Monday, Nov. 13 at the Ray DeGreeff Memorial Gymnasium.
Affton and Lutheran St. Charles will visit for the event, which starts at 5:30 p.m.
Each scrimmage will be three six-minute periods.
The first scrimmage will be Borgia versus Affton. Lutheran St. Charles then plays Affton and Borgia concludes the event against Lutheran St. Charles.
The Borgia boys will go to the Francis Howell Jamboree Tuesday. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will include Francis Howell, Hazelwood East and Ritenour.
Borgia will start with a 5:30 p.m. scrimmage against Ritenour in the Auxiliary Gym.
At 6:15 p.m., Borgia will play Francis Howell in the main gym. Borgia ends at 7 p.m. against Hazelwood East.
Scrimmages will be two six-minute quarters.
Francis Howell will play in the main gym the entire time, starting with Hazelwood East and ending with Ritenour.
Union’s boys basketball team plays at the Lindbergh Jamboree Thursday, Nov. 16.
The Wildcats will take on Lindbergh in Gym 3 in the first scrimmage at 6 p.m.
Union then moves to Gym 2 to play Clayton at 6:30 p.m. and MICDS at 7 p.m.
Lindbergh will be in Gym 3 for all scrimmages and the Flyers play MICDS and Clayton after the Union contest.
Each scrimmage will be two six-minute quarters.
St. Clair’s girls basketball will play host to Hermann, Owensville and Eldon in a jamboree Thursday, Nov. 16.
The Lady Bulldogs take on the Dutchgirls in the opening round at 5 p.m.
St. Clair is then off the court until 6:30 p.m. when it matches up with Hermann, immediately followed by its scrimmage with Eldon at 7 p.m.
Each round will consist of two six-minute periods.
St. Clair’s boys team will not play in a jamboree this season.
Pacific’s boys basketball will play at the Westminster Jamboree Thursday, Nov. 16, starting at 6 p.m.
In addition to Westminister and the Indians, Kirkwood and Jennings will participate. The games will be played in either the gymnasium or arena.
Pacific plays Westminster in the arena for the first round at 6 p.m.
The Indians then move to the gym to play Jennings at 6:30 p.m.
Pacific remains in the gym to finish the night against Kirkwood at 7 p.m.
Each round will be played in two six-minute periods.
The Lady Indians basketball team will play at the Cuba Jamboree Friday, Nov. 17.
Both boys and girls teams will be involved with Pacific set to play girls squads from Cuba and Stoutland.
The Lady Indians will play Stoutland at 6:30 p.m. and Cuba at 8 p.m.
Boys teams participating will be Cuba, Stoutland and Herculaneum.
The scrimmages will consist of three six-minute periods, alternating between girls rounds and boys rounds.
Washington and New Haven teams are not participating in jamborees this season.
