To The Editor:

A recent letter published in The Missourian expressed reservations about local discussions concerning racial awareness and its effect on how we live as a community.

I applaud the newspaper’s willingness to open its pages as a forum for community discussion and debate.

What is disturbing, however, is the paper’s policy of permitting such discussion and debate to hide behind a cloak of anonymity, a situation I have referred to in the past as “sniper journalism.”

Such behavior is at best a desire to avoid accountability, and at worst an act of cowardice.
