Alternative counts of second-degree murder and armed criminal action were dismissed.
The only penalty for first-degree murder in this case is life in prison with no chance of parole since the state earlier waived the death penalty for Maguire.
Judge Wood denied motions for a mistrial and for a verdict of acquittal, then scheduled sentencing for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21. The judge earlier denied a motion to set bond for the defendant.
Maguire's attorney, Art Margulis, has 15 days to file a motion for a new trial, according to Prosecuting Attorney Bob Parks.
During Monday's hearing, Maguire requested to be taken to a medical facility for examination. Judge Wood directed that Maguire be examined at the jail and action taken if any medical issues need to be addressed.
Margulis told the court that Maguire's health has deteriorated. "He has lost an enormous amount of weight and continues to deteriorate," Margulis said.
Parks said it appeared that Maguire, who had been on a hunger strike at the jail, had lost between 100 and 150 pounds.
Maguire waived a jury trial and the case was heard by Judge Wood.
It turned out to be one of the longest criminal trials in Franklin County history. After multiple delays and three psychiatric exams, the trial got under way last April and had almost been completed when Maguire began shouting and making threatening moves in the courtroom.
Judge Wood then ordered an extended recess and a new psychiatric examination of Maguire. The defendant later requested a fifth psychiatric exam which delayed the trial further.
The final witness in the case took the stand Sept. 21 and both sides made their closing arguments. Judge Wood then took the case under advisement until Monday.
Officials believe Maguire has spent more time in the Franklin County Jail than any other person in recent memory.
When investigators were called to the Maguire home at 3000 Highway T they found Kimberly Maguire lying in the yard near the rear of the residence with multiple knife wounds.
The murder weapon - a knife with a 5- to 6-inch blade - was still protruding from the woman's nude body, authorities said. She had been stabbed more than 20 times in the head and chest, according to reports.
The sheriff's office said a search of the residence revealed evidence of a struggle occurring both inside and outside the house.
Authorities said hours after the incident, Maguire went to the nearby home of a relative and told family members that he had killed his wife.
