Capturing memories has been an interest shared between a Washington couple for many years now, so much that they decided to name their new business, Capturing Memories Photography.

Dallas and Tanya Virkler, who have been running a photography business out of their home and holding shoots on location, will open a studio on High Street later this month.

"We had the business for about two years and have a studio set up in our house, but we just wanted to expand and get ourselves out there," Dallas Virkler said.

Capturing Memories Photography will be located at 1381 High St., Suite 209. The owners are planning a grand opening for Saturday, Nov. 28.

In addition to refreshments, such as coffee, hot cocoa and cookies, "we will be having pictures with Santa from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.," Tanya Virkler said.

If families want their children to have their photo taken with Santa Claus, they must call 636-221-4071 or 636-239-5202 to reserve a time. If people wish to just visit with Santa, they may come anytime.

The owners decided on the name Capturing Memories Photography because "we feel it kind of explains itself. We want to capture people's memories on film," Dallas Virkler said.

Both Dallas and Tanya Virkler became interested in photography as teenagers.

"I was 15 or so when I started doing photography and Tanya worked on her yearbook at school," Dallas Virkler said. "I also had an aunt who had a photography business in Michigan."

Capturing Memories Photography offers studio and outdoor photos, wedding, commercial, product, school, group, sports, motor sports, event and stock photography among others.

"We're into scenery, but our main business is senior portraits and kids," Dallas Virkler said.

In addition to the Virklers, another photographer, Brittany Thurman, will work with them.

"We hope to have plenty of business to keep us busy," Dallas Virkler said.

"Good quality at a little more affordable price" is what separates Capturing Memories Photography from other photo studios, Dallas Virkler noted.

"We also try to make things more personal. We will go to a location that means something to the person," Tanya Virkler explained.
