Conditions at Big Driver were wet and muddy.
Abby Glastetter finished the girls race in second place in a time of 21:18.
"Abby overcame a pretty good and somewhat comical fall in the warmup to finish second. One side of her face was covered in mud," said Borgia Coach Kurt Russell. "Abby is just a really tough and amazingly consistent runner. She will be going for her fourth state cross country medal this weekend. It will be quite an achievement if she does that. Not many people can say they have been all-state four years in a row."
Baehr placed seventh in 22:52.
Rose Glastetter was 13th in 23:11.
"Rose has just been great. She has improved so much since last year and now she is being rewarded for all the work she's put in," Russell said. "Both Abby and Rose train so well and so hard. It's good to see them do well. They are both strong runners. The mud didn't really affect them that much."
Ladue's Jocelyn Todd won the race in 21:05.
Ladue and MICDS advanced to state as a team. Ladue captured the district title with 33 points. MICDS finished second with 53 points.
Borgia finished in third place with 95 points. Owensville was fourth with 113 followed by Villa Duchesne with 118, Westminster with 136, Pacific with 182, Union with 199 and Sullivan with 257.
Borgia's other runners were Libby Barbey (22nd in 24:31), Shannon Piontek (23rd in 24:33), Emmy Glastetter (36th in 25:39), Abby Buchmann (55th in 27:41) and Haley Russell (60th in 28:41).
"Our girls simply couldn't overcome the injuries and sickness that have hurt us for the last month," Russell said. "Haley Russell, who finished in the top 15 last year, simply couldn't shake her back issues. Shannon Piontek was sick at the start of the week and was fatigued. Libby Barbey's knees were still an issue. Even if we were totally healthy, it would've been really tough to beat Ladue or MICDS. Those two teams have been really, really good all year long."
Owensville's other runners were Megan Dunlap (20th in 24:15), Taylor Hofstetter (28th in 24:59), Sam Dittmann (29th in 25:06), Esslie Perkins (32nd in 25:12), Danielle Soest (51st in 27:21) and Alex Reppert (52nd in 27:22).
Representing Pacific were Morgan Webb (31st in 25:11), Kim Klenke (34th in 25:31), Lexi Lindemann (35th in 25:34), Hannah Webb (40th in 26:05), Merry Skaggs (49th in 27:07) and Katie Poppe (59th in 28:39). Amanda Meeker lost a shoe in the mud and did not finish.
Union's runners were Caitlyn Zweifel (33rd in 25:14), Christa Lenau (37th in 25:42), Emily Vie (38th in 25:51), Karen Osuna (45th in 26:52), Karlee Krey (54th in 27:36), Lindsay Hayes (61st in 28:55) and Abbie Vie (62nd in 29:13).
St. Clair's runners were Audrey Miller (27th in 24:53) and Kim Pelton (64th in 30:26).
Competing for Sullivan were Lindsay Miller (41st in 26:08), Britney Sartori (46th in 26:57), Ashley Pieper (58th in 28:30), Robbie Barker (63rd in 30:17) and Lena Brueggemann (65th in 32:10).
Abby Glastetter, Rose Glastetter and Baehr will run in the Class 3 girls race at the state meet Saturday at 12:05 p.m.
The top 25 finishers earn state medals.
