3. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (30 to be exact) was written in 1948, following World War II, by a committee chaired by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt in an attempt to try to prevent occurring again what had happened the previous two decades. They are not "a teaching of the Church of Scientology" as so stated.
4. Regarding the comment that human trafficking is unrelated to public school drug education - for a full and correct definition of human trafficking, Google "Rescue and Restore in St. Louis." People involved with drugs and violence are also often linked to pornography and trafficking and that has affected our district. Or has the terrible infliction on the innocent Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby already been forgotten?
Many great well-designed humanitarian actions over history began with a religion. Within churches are individuals who want to help and seek a better way of life for themselves and others. The Foundation for a Drug-Free World (FDFW) is a totally secular entity. Secular means separate from religious doctrine. There are many people of all faiths who support FDFW because it is good and it works. FDFW is about educating. FDFW educational material is a step in the right direction toward a solution to our problem at no cost to the district. See for yourself at www.drugfreeworld.org and www.youthforhumanrights.org and make your own personal decision.
Everyone should be willing to be a part of a solution and help try to create a safer environment for our children, our families, friends, neighbors and, yes, even strangers.
