On May 24, 1958, he was united in marriage to Bernice Carlyne Fisher, nee Schabus, and four children came to bless this union.
Mr. Dockery is survived by his wife, Bernice Dockery, Hermann; three sons, Michael Fisher and wife Carolyn, Lonedell, Everett "Sam" Dockery and Joseph Dockery, both of St. Clair; three daughters, Patty Schreiner and husband Larry, Hermann, Clara Stewart, St. Clair, and Anita Davenport, Union; two sisters, Eva Decker, Festus, and Phyllis Claspille and husband Kenneth, Wellsville; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeff D. Fisher; four brothers, Jim "Doc" Dockery, Ted Dockery, Ronald "Rufus" Dockery and William Dockery Jr.; one sister, Dorothy Dunn; and one granddaughter, Julie Ann Clarke.
Mr. Dockery was of the Baptist faith and had been baptized in the 1980s at Calvary Baptist Church, Fenton. In recent years, he spent time visiting with the Rev. James McColloch.
He had served his country in the U.S. Army, entering Sept. 17, 1959, and receiving his honorable discharge Dec. 9, 1959.
During his working years, he was employed for over 35 years as a mechanic at the Simpson Sand and Gravel Plant, Valley Park. He also was a retiree of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 513, Bridgeton.
Mr. Dockery had remained active since his retirement andkept busy tinkering in his garage. His many friends and neighbors often gathered in his garage to work on various projects.
He was known as the man who could fix or fabricate most anything. He loved to watch old Western movies, especially those with John Wayne. He also liked watching wrestling. Above all else, he was happiest when spending time with his family.
A devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great- and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. James McColloch officiating.
Interment with full military honors was in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Cedar Hill. Memorials to the family are preferred. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
